                 GMO genetically modified

Effects of GMOs

A few years ago, I started having trouble digesting soy, corn, dairy products and gluten.  Recently, I realized that, when consuming those grown organically, I had no problems, exept for dairies.  This is how I became interested in GMOs.

Currently many foods contain genetically modified elements.   By definition, organic foods do not contain GMOs.

It is probable that the dramatic increase of intolerance to certain food is directly related to GMOs.

In Canada, major food chains have agreed to ban from shelves any item that say "NO GMO".

Several countries have forbiden them.   Europe is very careful.  Thousands of Indian farmers commit suicide every year because of problems related to GMO cotton.

What is a GMO?

The two main changes in their genes are:

1- The introduction of the BT gene that allows the plants to produce their own insecticide.  Therefore, every part of the plant  now contains a "natural" insecticide.

2- The introduction of another gene allowing plants to survive 'Roundup', a very potent herbicide that kills everything and that accumulates in the treated plants.

In consuming GMOs we consume one insecticide and one herbicide, plus other treatments.

The animals fed with GMOs concentrate these pesticides in their meat.

Recently, the UN scientists declared that Roundup is causing cancer.

A friend working for the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture recently told me that the farmers now use a pesticide worst than Roundup to kill the leaves of plants before harvesting.

Recently the Minister of Agriculture in Québec admitted on camera that 'Monsanto was more powerful than the government'.

By recently listening to the last video listed below on this page, I learned that a 4th generation GMO corn named ''Spartak'' grown in Canada is producing six insecticides and currently survives  the application of two herbicides. .............
